Should we get premarital counseling?

marriage counselingThe decision about whether or not to get premarital counseling is typically decided after a couple gets engaged. Many people highly recommend premarital counseling. Counseling can open up dialog between you and your partner about important issues you are likely to face in your marriage. It is an opportunity to learn more about your partner and yourself. One drawback to counseling is that it forces you to address possible future issues that may naturally evolve into non-issues. Regardless, counseling can help you and your fiancée develop techniques and habits to help you communicate and deal with unknown, future issues that are sure to come up.
